Wheel throwing is a pottery technique where clay is shaped on a spinning wheel using hands and tools. The motion allows for precise control, creating everything from bowls to more intricate forms. It’s a balance of pressure and timing, with each piece reflecting the potter's connection to the clay.
Hand carving pottery involves carving designs or textures into the surface of a clay piece after it’s been shaped. Using various tools, the potter adds intricate patterns or details, enhancing the piece’s visual appeal and tactile feel. It’s a method that allows for personal expression, creating unique, one-of-a-kind designs that make each piece stand out.
Buying local art and pottery supports artists directly and helps sustain local craftsmanship. It’s an investment in unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that carry a personal touch and story. Plus, it strengthens the local economy and community, making art and culture more accessible and meaningful.

Ashley and Teran Bergeron are two creatives who fell in love and have been a team for over 13 years. Their journey together has blossomed into a shared vision to spread the joy of working with clay. Ashley B is a professional artist and potter with an Associate of Arts degree, having studied hand building and other art forms during her college years. Originally, she aspired to become a high school art teacher. However, everything changed when Teran surprised her with an ancient, thrifted kiln for Christmas. This thoughtful gift ignited Ashley's passion for creating functional art.
When the world shifted in 2020 and both Ashley and Teran lost their jobs, they turned to pottery full-time. They invested in a wheel and began crafting together, setting up at the Salem Saturday Market every week for the last three years. Teran took on creative roles, including hand building and glaze chemistry, and together they formed a powerful creative force.
Our studio wasn't able to come to fruition but that doesn't mean we're done trying. We asked our selves some big questions and have re-calibrated. We're going to be investing in our studio equipment in smaller bites. Starting with the wheels! We'll soon be offering wheel throwing lessons from our home studio, and traveling to beautiful Oregon locations. Just imagine, throwing on the cliff side of the Oregon coast, or besides a serine lake. We're thinking creatively and we're excited to show you all that we've been working on.
