Nope! All clay and kiln firings are included in your purchase. We want you to have complete freedom to create with out worrying about secret charges. You'll only ever make one purchase and everything you need will be included.
Open studio is an appointment based option for self-study and personal exploration. Open studio passes are not guided but instructors are available to assist if you have any questions. After a brief orientation upon arrival, you’ll have full access to our studio and all the equipment we offer. Roll out a slab, try the wheel — the choice is yours! Once you've finished your piece and are ready for firing, your membership includes clay, two months of green ware storage and kiln firings! Pottery can take many weeks to finish so plan on at least 2 visits to finish a piece. Open studio passes may be revoked without refund if a member causes harm to the studio, equipment, or others. Our studio is an inclusive space that fosters creative freedom. Become a member and start your creative journey today!
Our pottery workshops and classes are designed to offer a range of commitment options to fit your needs. Bite-sized classes are two-hour, one-day sessions that provide an introduction to a specific topic, while our 2-8 week courses offer a more in-depth exploration of the craft. Pottery is a lifelong creative journey, and while no course will make you a master overnight, they will provide you with the skills and momentum to begin or continue your artistic path. A pottery workshop grants you all the clay you need and space in our electric kilns. You also receive an open studio pass per day of class. So a 4 week class also comes with 4 open studio passes. These passes are only good during the weeks of your classes so be sure to get the most of your experience! By booking a workshop you have agreed to our cancellation policy. Our studio is dedicated to fostering your creativity and helping you flourish. With hands-on experience and personalized guidance, you’ll develop your skills and bring your pottery creations to life. Come create with us!
Members and work shop attendees get all the kiln firings they need and accrue no additional charges. For non members and non workshop attendees verified cone 6 clay can be fired for a charge of .05 per square inch. Message us for inquiries.
The readiness of your piece depends on how it was crafted and whether there are any priority firings. On average, it will take 1-2 weeks for your piece to be fired. If you've created a particularly thick form, it may require more time to dry and could be moved to the next kiln run.
Firing wet pieces is not an option, as it can result in explosions, so we ensure everything is fully dry before firing. Pottery requires time and patience, and we want to ensure the best results for your work.
Unfortunately, no. We only allow the use of clay purchased from our studio. While this may be inconvenient, it is an important policy to maintain the integrity of our space. Bringing outside clay into the studio could contaminate our clay supply, damage our equipment, and disrupt our kiln firings.
Our clay bodies are specially formulated to work with our glazes and kiln settings. If outside clay is brought in, you will be responsible for any damages, and your studio pass or classes will be revoked without reimbursement.
This can be an option for individuals who can show proof that they have a cone 6 clay body and take liability for any damage to the kiln, kiln furniture and shelves. We charge .05 per cubic inch of wares. Message us for inquires.
We currently only offer electric kiln firings, but have plans to expand and offer raku and gas firings as well. Stay tuned!
Free street parking can be found on Academy St and 4th St.
Yes, most of the time! With some exceptions including our two hour wheel throwing class. A two hour wheel throwing class only focuses on throwing a form. To finish a piece of pottery you would need to come back at least 2 times. However, if you throw something in a two hour class and you'd like to come back you can book an open studio pass to continue working on your piece. Please refer to our class descriptions for more information.
We currently don't offer kid specific classes at this time, but if you think your child can stay engaged during a 2 hour class then they are welcome to join! If you want to be there to supervise but don't want to participate you do not need to make an additional booking.
Since we offer clay as part of your membership we don't allow clay to be brought home. However, if you'd like to work at home you can purchase a bag of clay for 30.00 to take and work with at home. When your piece is ready for firing and glazing you can choose to pay for kiln space or book an open studio and take advantage of our glaze selection and receive kiln space per your booking.
